Privacy

Last updated 4 November 2026

Slouch is built to know as little about you as possible. It shows no ads and sends no analytics about how you use your PC. Your game library, settings and logs stay on your PC.

If you never make a gamertag

Slouch works fully on its own. The only things it asks the internet for are updates to itself, art for your games, and the Store (see below).

If you make a gamertag

Friends and parties need a small account on Slouch's service. There is no email address or password: your PC holds a private key, protected by Windows, that proves it's you. The service keeps:

WhatWhyHow long
Your gamertag, colour and "appear offline" choiceSo friends can find and recognise youUntil you delete your account
Your PC's public key and sign-in sessions (stored only as a fingerprint)To sign you inSessions end after 90 days unused
Online or away, and the name of the game you're playingSo friends see what you're up to (choose "appear offline" to hide it)Replaced as it changes
Your Steam account number, if you're signed in to Steam on the PCFor Join game and for deals on your Steam wishlistUntil you delete your account
Friends, friend requests and people you've blockedYour friends listUntil you or they remove it
Your party, invites and party text chatPartiesDeleted when the party ends
Short notices to your PC (a friend came online, a message)To deliver them15 minutes

Voice

Party voice goes straight from PC to PC, encrypted. When two PCs can't reach each other directly, it passes through an encrypted relay. Voice is never recorded or stored. Background noise is removed on your own PC before your voice leaves it.

The Store

To price games in your currency, Slouch's service uses your internet address to tell which country you're in. If you're signed in to Steam, it reads your public Steam wishlist to show deals on it; a copy is kept for up to a day. When you choose Buy, the service counts one click for that store and game, without anything about who clicked, then sends you to the store. Stores and their partner networks have their own privacy policies and may set cookies on their own sites.

Who handles the data

Slouch's service runs on Vercel (in London) with its database on Neon (in London). The voice relay is Cloudflare's. None of them may use your data for anything else.

Delete everything

Press the Xbox button, open Audio, and choose Delete my account. Your gamertag, friends, party and messages are deleted at once and for good. Uninstalling Slouch also removes everything it added to your PC.
